Subject: Water appeal for Arusha Region, Tanzania

My dear Ahlebeyti Muslims, Salaam aleykum,

Comfort Aid International has received an appeal for distribution of 100,000 liters of water in and around the parched region of Arusha, Tanzania. This is an area where water is a very precious commodity and poor Africans suffer great hardships and go to many trails for want of water every day.

Our affiliate in Tanzania, Masjid Khatamul Anbiyaa Madressa and School has begun supervising the distribution of water at various villages beginning Arbaeen and will continue until Safer 28, the death anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). They will distribute the water to all needy, regardless of faith or affiliation, in the name of Imam Hussein (AS) and propagate the tragedy of Kerbala as well.

CAI has committed US $1,500 for the entire distribution project and thus appeal to our generous donors to please participate in this important act of mercy. Please lend a helping hand if you can.

Jazaak'Allah, may Allah (SWT) bless and reward you for your kindness.

Subject: SOS from Parachnar, Pakistan

My dear Ahlebeyti Muslims, Salaam aleykum,

I had a very stressful and disheartening briefing regarding the situation in Parachnar, Pakistan. You may have heard or read about the assault on Shia Muslims by the Talibaan from western Afghanistan and from the Talibaan within Pakistan in the east. The military imposed a curfew on the district and Parachnar was cut off from the world. Since April 2007 until November 2007 when the curfew was lifted, we lost 74 people from the firings of Talibaan, critically wounding 215. From this 215, several later died from lack of medical supplies and services. All this information is now beginning to filter out, after the curfew got lifted in December 2007.

This brief was given to me by Maulana Musharrab Husseini, who is visiting Houston at the moment. Maulana is from the Phusto speaking region of Parachnar, Pakistan and is familiar with the region and the events there. As with other regions of the world where we have conflicts, the needs are many and overwhelming; I know, understand and appreciate this. I also know and understand and appreciate the demands for charitable donations from several fronts and the stretch it becomes. We cannot however, sit on our hands and do nothing, CAI strives to help all that are needy, especially those that are persecuted only because of their religion.

Comfort Aid International has committed an initial amount of $5,000 for medical aid and will send more if and when we get more. These funds will go via Islamic Education Center in Houston to Shaheed Foundation which is active in the area. CAI will draw from its non-existing reserves of Sadeqa funds in the hope and prayer that it’s very generous and Allah loving donors will come through again. The situation is grave and very serious; the least we can do is save lives of persecuted Shia’s in whose hearts pump the same blood and love for the Ahlebeit (as) as ours.

Please treat this plea as urgent and commit whatever you can. I am off to India and Afghanistan to oversee the water and orphanage projects in March and will try to squeeze a visit to Parachnar, if possible, insha’Allah. Please forward this message to those that might not be on our mailing list. Let us please join hands and save some lives.

Attached is a letter CAI received from Mercy Corps for $5,000 we send in education aid to the displaced refugees in Darfur.

May Allah (swt) bless and increase in all the good for you in this and the next world.

Jazaak’Allah.

1) Madarsa Jama e Imam Mehdi (A.S), Azamgarh (U.P) has developed an excellent infrastructure for imparting modern education amongst the students of the madarsa as well as educating community boys and girls in computer technology. All details are available on the website http://www.jamaeimammehdi.com/

Construction of new building for computer lab and accommodation for computer teacher is almost ready by the grace of almighty & by the contribution of generous donors. However, Moulana Syed Tehzebul Hassan Rizvi who is founder and secretary of Madarsa has requested for 30 computers to start the lab.

2) Mosque in Al Ain Last Friday i.e. 23rd Nov 2007, we visited the site of an under construction Mosque called M asjide Imam Ali Ibne Abi Talib (AS) in Al Ain U.A.E . This was pre existing old Mosque, which has been demolished to be constructed as a purpose built mosque with lots of facilities & comfort for the Momineen of Al Ain.

The idea & the planning of the new structure is fantastic, & I'm very happy for the Momineen of Al Ain to get such a wonderful purpose built mosque whereby they would have relief in busy months of Moharram & Ramadhan.  The place is exactly next to Al Ain Mall in Al Ain & is a prime location. (Not so 30 years back, when the land was given)

Please do not forget to make Dua for the quick completion of the construction of the new Masjid Imam Ali Ibne Abi Talib (a) Masjid. Ameen!

Wasallam,
Rehan
